Backing up MySQL databases may seem like such a waste of time, even though you know you should.
What if the backup files are never needed?
For most of us, it's hard to admit that something catastrophic could happen.
• The Bell
A bell hangs in a tower. It's up out of the way — without a pull cord so it can't be rung inadvertently.
It's perfectly safe. It's unthinkable that the bell would ever ring.
But somehow, a bird gets into the tower. It flys around trying to get out of the strange, enclosed space.

• Storage Devices Can Fail
Because even storage devices can fail, critical data needs to be backed up in at least two ways.

As a third example, let's consider the highly unlikely scenario that you have the backup file but somehow you no longer have access to Database Back Up and Restore V2. Any software that can read JSON data can be used to extract the backed-up information.
