Using The 'Insert Here' Plugin On Wordpress
This new WordPress plugin makes it extremely easy to insert content from URLs into posts and pages.
The Insert Here plugin was developed for two reasons:
-
To make it easy to publish always-updated content with a URL.
-
As the first step to providing cloud services for website owners. We'll announce services in the Possibilities ezine as they're ready.
But don't wait to begin using Insert Here. It's so very useful (ideas below) even without specialized services.
It's so-ooo easy to use.
Install it. Activate it. And use this shortcode:
[insert_here url="THE-URL"]
Replace THE-URL with the URL of the content you want to insert.
That's it. You're good to go!
No Built-in Limit
Put the shortcode into your posts and pages wherever you want the content inserted.
No limit to the number of posts and pages the code can be used on. No limit to the number of shortcodes on any individual posts or pages.
Two Caveats
1. The URL must be a public URL. Restricted URL examples are passwords required and URLs at sites that restrict robot activities.
2. Use only content from sites you trust. Pages at URLs could load disruptive JavaScript or CSS, or even more malicious code.
Examples of Use
The Insert Here plugin inserts content from a URL directly into your post or page. Which makes it why-
-
One central contact information file at any public URL can be used for all your WordPress installations. When a chance is made in the central file, every page with the shortcode for the contact information URL is automatically updated.
The same can be done with the copyright line. And other information that's identical across domains, like privacy policies or terms of use.
-
Subscription forms, contact forms, payment forms, pretty much any kind of form can be inserted into your posts and pages.
-
Instead of trying to figure out how to incorporate a PHP script into your post or page in order to publish data from a MySQL table, use Insert Here. Upload the PHP script to your server and put the script's URL into the insert_here shortcode.
-
Ads, quotes, picture of the day, prices, all can be inserted into your posts and pages with the Insert Here plugin.
Simply make a file with the content and place the shortcode wherever you want it published — at any or all of your WordPress installations.
Here are the URLs you need:
-
Insert Here plugin description page with download link.
-
Insert Here installation instructions and FAQ.
When you begin to us it, you'll see how easy it is to insert content from a URL directly into your post or page using Insert Here.
